Emmanuel's Ministries
Free Prayer with Pastor Rob​
​

This is an opportunity for anyone who wants to talk or pray with Pastor Rob but do not feel comfortable coming to church. 

1st and 3rd Wednesdays, 11:00 a.m.–1:00 p.m. at Magic Mugs in Dover

Pub Theology​
​

An informal faith and Bible discussion over dinner that takes the church out of the building and into the community. 

Last Wednesday of the month, 5:30–7:00 p.m. at Broadway Brewhouse

Sunday School

​

Every Sunday morning, kids and adult education classes are offered, with topics changing seasonally, from September through May. All are welcome to join in.

Sundays, 8:30 a.m.–9:15 a.m.

Emmanuel is a church for the community.
The church building is not only for worship on Sundays ... it is meant to be a gathering space for our community, a place where people of all backgrounds come together.

Vocal Choir

​

Emmanuel has an active Vocal Choir that sings the 1st, 3rd, and 4th Sundays of each month, Sept. through May. Anthems of various styles are selected by the Choir Director and practiced on Thursday evenings. Anyone is welcome to join.

Thursdays, 6:30 p.m.–7:30 p.m.

Women's Bible Study

​A Bible study for women is held the 1st Wednesday of the month, at 1:30 p.m.
All women are welcome
to attend.

Normally meets September through May.

Pastors' Text-Study Group

​

​Every Tuesday, the Southern Conference of the NE Ohio Synod meets here at Emmanuel for conversation and study of the current week's lectionary texts.

Park Village South Ministry
​

​Throughout the year, the people of Emmanuel provide a service and fellowship for the residents of Park Village South Assisted Living in New Philadelphia.

Various Sundays throughout the year, 2 p.m.-2:30 p.m.

Food Ministries

​

Emmanuel serves its community in various ways, especially in assisting the food organizations of New Philadelphia and Dover. We serve monthly at the Greater Dover/New Phila Food Pantry and provide hygiene and wish list items for the Friends of the Homeless Shelter. We also support other local outreach ministries monetarily and with special projects each month.

Monthly and Year-round Service Opportunities

Emmanuel Music Camp

​

​Each summer Emmanuel hosts a free music camp for school-age children. The focus is to introduce young children to all styles of music, teaching them the basics of music theory as well as letting them try out various instruments. Games, snacks, and more round out this unique camp experience.

Music Camp is on hiatus due to pandemic.

Emmanuel Committees

​
A trustworthy and healthy church operates with many able and dedicated persons, through a committee structure that connects all ministry and business to the Church Council.

Congregational Life Committee
Meets throughout the year to organize events to nurture our congregation's life together.

​

Endowment Funds Committee

Meets throughout the year to handle the distribution of Endowment funds to various ministries and organizations in our community and beyond.

​

Finance Committee

Meets monthly to oversee the finances of this church. This committee also carries out the creation of our annual budget.

​

Personnel Committee

Meets as needed to supervise the hiring of employees and to manage employee matters. This committee also oversees the Employee Handbook and matters related to our staff.

Property Committee

Meets monthly to oversee all property improvements and maintenance.

​

Service Committee
Meets throughout the year to organize and carry out mission and service initiatives that benefit the greater New Phila and Dover communities.

​

Stewardship Committee

Meets monthly to address and encourage the stewardship life of the congregation, including overall health, finances, and more.

​

Worship and Music Committee

Meets every quarter to plan special worship services and to oversee the worship life of the congregation. The Arts Committee is a sub-committee of the Worship-and-Music Committee, involved in selecting artwork that will enhance our gathering spaces throughout the church.

Community Groups that meet at Emmanuel
AA (Alcoholics Anonymous)

​
One of the county's most well-attended weekly AA meetings is held every Monday, 12 noon, at Emmanuel. It is a private group meeting for anyone who wants to engage the Twelve Steps of AA.

Mondays, 12–1 p.m.

Free Family Law Legal Clinics

​
Emmanuel hosts free legal clinics, provided by the Southeastern Ohio Legal Services. 

Held the third Tuesday every month from 5-7 p.m.

Weekly Zumba Classes

​
A local Zumba instructor teaches weekly classes on Tuesday evenings in the fellowship hall. Cost is $5.

Tuesdays, 6:30-7:30 p.m.

Tuscora Stamp Club

​
A local stamp club meets here at Emmanuel twice each month.

1st Wednesday and 3rd Tuesday each month from 7-9 p.m.

Share-A-Christmas

​
The Tuscarawas County "Share-A-Christmas" program holds their interviewing and processing at Emmanuel, the first and third weeks of November.
